Автор подчеркивает историографическую важность работ конца ХІХ – начала ХХ века. Советская историография представлена трудами активных участников революционных преобразований в Турке-станском крае. Зарубежная историческая школа выработала свою (альтернативную) интерпретацию процессов становления и развития национального движения, которое подвергалось многими советскими историками целенаправленной фальсификации.
