| local.description.annotation | The article considers the history of ethnological study of Northern Belarus in the first postwar decades. The anal-ysis of field ethnographic researches carried out within the borders of the region in 1945–1960s is given. The published works devoted to the ethnic culture of the population of Northern Belarus are characterized. The main directions of research are highlighted, their methodology and theoretical foundations are characterized.
