dc.descriptionDOMINICAN MONASTERY LOST HERITAGE OF POLOTSK Y. FILIPENKA This article presents a retrospective analysis of historical, cultural, architectural and planning aspects of the emergence and transformation of one of the now lost monuments of the city of Polotsk – the Dominican Mo-nastery with the Church of the Mother of God. Investigated its role in town planning structure of the historic center of Polotsk during the XVII – XX centuries. As a direct part of the ensemble Parade Square, the Church of the Dominicans played a role of the secondary dominant of area, despite the fact that it was not an element that significantly affect the skyline of a town. It was established that the obliteration of the church of the Mother of God and the whole complex of the Dominican Monastery, along with the destruction of the Jesuit church, has caused the loss of the compositional integrity of the urban ensemble of the Main Square.ru_RU
dc.description.abstractПредставлен ретроспективный анализ историко-культурного и архитектурно-планировочного аспектов возникновения и трансформации одного из ныне утраченных памятников архитектуры города Полоцка – Доминиканского монастыря с костелом Матери Божьей. Исследована его градостроительная роль в структуре исторического центра Полоцка в период XVII – XX веков. Являясь непосредствен-ной частью ансамбля Парадной (Корпусной) площади, костел доминиканцев играл роль второстепенной доминанты площади, несмотря на то, что он не был элементом, существенно влияющим на силуэт города. Установлено, что уничтожение костела Матери Божьей и в целом комплекса Доминиканского монастыря, наряду с разрушением иезуитского костела, повлекло за собой утрату композиционной целостности всего градостроительного ансамбля Парадной площади.ru_RU
