Abstract

Рассматривается образ Одиссея в стихотворении «Улисс» (Ulysses) американского поэта, прозаика, драматурга, автора литературных биографий Эдгара Ли Мастерса (Edgar Lee Masters, 1869–1950). Произведение Э.Л. Мастерса «Улисс» вошло в сборник «Открытое море» (The open sea, 1921) и посвящено Одиссею. Царь Итаки, супруг Пенелопы и отец Телемаха – человек, который на протяжении долгих двадцати лет своего отсутствия на родине не утратил привязанности к своим родным и близким, стремления вернуться домой. Э.Л. Мастерс предлагает собственную версию прочтения причины возвращения Одиссея домой.= The article deals with the image of Ulysses in the poem «Ulysses» by American poet, novelist, playwright, author of the literary biographies Edgar Lee Masters (1869 – 1950). The work of E.L. Masters «Ulysses» was included in the collection «The Open Sea» (1921) and is dedicated to Ulysses. King of Ithaca, the husband of Penelope and the father of Telemachus is a man who, during the long twenty years of his absence at home, has not lost his affection for his family and friends, his desire to return home. E.L. Masters offers his own version of the reading of the reason for the return of Ulysses home.
