Abstract

Дается общий этимологический обзор словарного запаса английского языка. Акцентируется внимание на способах и причинах заимствования и дается процентное соотношение исконной и заимствованной лексики. Детально описываются характеристики и типы исконной лексики и заимствований. Рассматриваются понятия ассимиляции и степени ассимиляции и указываются их типы. Описываются явления народной этимологии, понятия этимологических дублетов и интернациональных слов. =The lecture gives a general etymological review of the vocabulary of the English language. It focuses on the methods and causes of borrowing and gives the percentage of native and borrowed vocabulary in English. The native vocabulary and borrowings are considered. Their characteristics and types are described in detail. The concepts of assimilation and the degree of assimilation are explained, and the types of assimilation of borrowings are indicated. The concepts of folk etymology, etymological doublets, international words are considered.
