Мотив трудолюбия в произведениях Г. Торо и Н. Готорна

Abstract

В статье рассматривается мотив трудолюбия в работах Г. Торо и Н. Готорна для более глубокого понимания феномена американского романтизма. Автор акцентирует внимание на том, что сходство взглядов Н. Готорна с этической системой трансценденталистов в целом и Г. Торо в частности возможно объяснить их пуританским наследием. Особое внимание уделяется влиянию пуританской традиции на обоих писателей, поскольку лейтмотив трудолюбия встречается в сочинениях, созданных пуританскими авторами в первой половине XVII в., и связан с образованием первых колоний на территории Нового света. На основании проанализированного материала делается вывод о сходствах и различиях интерпретации мотива трудолюбия в произведениях Г. Торо и Н. Готорна.= the article deals with the motif of 'industry' in literary works of H. Thoreau and N. Hawthorne with a purpose to understand better the phenomenon of American Romanticism. the author emphasizes the fact that similarity of N. Hawthorne's views with the ethical system of Transcendentalists, in general, and H. Thoreau's views, in partic-ular, can be explained by their Puritan legacy. Special emphasis is put on the Puritan tradition influence on both of these writers, since the leitmotif of industry is found in the works of Puritan authors written in the first half of the 17th century and is associated with the formation of the first colonies in the New World. Taking into con-sideration the analyzed material, a conclusion is drawn about the similarities and differences in the interpretation of the industry' motif in the literary works of H. Thoreau and N. Hawthorne.
