| Abstract: | Рассматривается образ замка в романах Х. Уолпола «Замок Отранто» (The Castle of Otranto, 1764) и К. Рив «Старый английский барон» (The Old English Baron, 1777). Обосновывается, что замок является центральным понятием английской готической литературы, выполняя при этом сюжетообразующую роль. Выделяются общие и особенные черты пространственной структуры готического замка в произведениях основоположников готического романа. Доказывается, что для художественного пространства замка в готическом произведении характерна многосоставность образа. |

It is explained that the castle is the central concept of English Gothic literature, while performing a plot-forming role. The general and special features of the spatial structure of the Gothic castle in the works of the founders of the Gothic novel are highlighted. It is proved that the artistic space of the castle in the Gothic work is characterized by a multi-composite image. |
